Progress with SHEQ audit

The development by Agbiz Grain of a safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) audit tailored to the unique aspects of the grain handling and storage sector, is based on five pillars comprising a standards document, an audit questionnaire, an audit standard operating procedure, the audit process, and monitoring and evaluation. The first draft of the SHEQ standards has been approved by the Agbiz Grain advisory committee, and the first version of the audit questionnaire is currently in its final draft stage.

Pilot audits will be done at depots in September this year. Audits will address issues such as pest control, contractor management, construction work, emergency preparedness, SHEQ training records, and various other aspects. The audit-system will assist Agbiz Grain members in ensuring a safe working environment and minimising risks to food safety. – Agbiz Grain
